Smile of Compassion Projects is a non-profit organization that provides various services to underserved communities. I’ve been their full-stack developer since September 2019, and the site has been rebuilt more than once along the way.
What the redesign did
- Spearheaded the redesign of the organization’s site, resulting in a 70% increase in user visits and a 50% increase in proceeds.
- Implemented cost-effective web solutions, reducing operational expenses by nearly 90%.
- Ran tutorial sessions to train non-profit staff in website management, so they can update content on their own.
Under the hood
The current site is a React app with Material UI, with content managed in Hygraph so the people running the organization can edit it without me. It speaks more than one language through i18next, and a small Express server and Firebase handle the parts that can’t be static.
